Visit Us

We are always happy to welcome visitors on the island!

We are passionate about rare and native breeds - which all started with our North Ronaldsay sheep.

Croft Tours

You will receive a warm welcome and will gain insight into the daily routines of crofting and the life of our animals.

Your tour will begin by introducing you to our animals: North Ronaldsay sheep, Golden Guernsey goats, ponies, Mango the Jersey cow, Shetland cattle, Large Black pigs, Scots Dumpy and Sussex Buff chickens. We will pass out treats as we go. There will be plenty of opportunity to stroke them and ask lots of questions.

We will then look at the wildlife and habitats on the croft, and you’ll hear about the things we do to practice nature friendly farming.

Prebooking is essential.

Meet your adopted sheep

This is my favourite croft experience! I just love when people visit their adopted sheep and can get to know them, face to face. Treat them to some raisins, have a cuddle, and take plenty of selfies with your favourite sheep!

Prebooking is essential.

Free for sheep adopters.

Adoptions are £25 and can be bought online or at the croft.

Stay with us

This year we will be offering glamping at our croft. See more details here

Ponies & picnic - coming soon

Groom your pony and pack the days supplies in traditional willow creels, before setting off along the coast. You'll lead the ponies as much or as little as you're comfortable with, stopping to take in the view whenever the scenery demands a photo, which can be quite often!

We will then cross the island and head north to Westness Croft, where we will stop for a break and a picnic of a delicious traditional Ploughman's lunch made from Orkney produce and refreshments. It's then time to head back to Milldam Croft.

Once back, we show you how to unpack the ponies, help with their after care & give them their dinner before a final goodbye and release them into their field.

Prebooking is essential.
